"Life is defined by the choices you make, so make the right ones"

As soon as a youngster enters high school, they are besieged with inquiries about stream choices, career ambitions, and so on. Advice from parents, family, and instructors confuses the youngster about which possibilities to pursue and which to avoid. Because they are extremely personalised questions, asked generically, to which youngsters react without pause or consideration. And occasionally, under pressure or by studying their surroundings or acquaintances, they select the incorrect path, which eventually influences their entire life. If one is concerned about their choices and engages in some active exploration and deliberation, choosing a stream will no longer be a challenging task.

Class 11 CBSE has three streams:

1. Science
2. Commerce
3. Humanities

Let's take a closer look at each of these streams one by one.

SCIENCE -

is defined as the study of the physical and natural worlds. This is the most well-known and widely used stream. People can't stop talking about and providing advice on this stream, saying things like, "You're strong at academics, therefore the scientific stream is the ideal fit for you, or the science stream offers more employment opportunities," yet this is far from the case. Curiosity and a drive to research, paired with the capacity to analyse rationally, are the natural qualities of the sciences.

Subject in Science Stream

The science stream is split into two sub-branches based on the student's third subject of study.

• Medical subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and an elective.
• Non-Medical Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English, and Optional Subjects
• Some students choose a combination of the two (PCMB), focusing on Mathematics rather than the optional course.
• The board provides a wide range of elective courses in both medical and non-medical domains.

Commerce- The study of commerce and trade

The study of business, trade, and finance is referred to as commerce. Commerce students learn about how commodities and services are transformed, how firms operate, how fiscal transactions take place, how the country's economy functions, and much more.
While students may or may not study Mathematics as part of their Commerce studies, numbers are the foundation of this field.

Commerce Stream Subjects

  • Accountancy,
  • Business Studies,
  • Economics,
  • English,
  • Mathematics (or an elective topic)

are the disciplines required of commerce students.

The fifth subject is a choice between Mathematics and other optional disciplines, as determined by the board.

Arts and Humanities-

The Study of Human Society and the World Humanities as a field has been widely misunderstood and seen as a route for academically challenged students. However, in the current context, students are going to the humanities for the diverse range of disciplines and professional opportunities it offers.

Students who are interested in learning about international politics, social concerns, real events, and society are great candidates for humanities as a stream in grades 11 and 12.

It provides students with a plethora of topic options. History, politics, economics, geography, sociology, and psychology are just a few of the significant courses available to students. Combining humanities with mathematics is another common combo among students these days.
