I still remember when I was employed my boss kept pushing me to grab opportunities that kept arising in the organization and expand my experience, he often said "if I need to grow, I need to create my second line and for that we both need to identify your potential, your vision for your own growth, your readiness to stretch, your areas of strength and improvement and how the organization can support you"
Growth is a universal human need. it is a way we challenge ourselves, stimulate ourselves intellectually and it keeps us motivated to progress personally and professionally.
Having Growth Conversations with employees keeps them engaged and motivated.
- Discuss career goals with your employees
- Act as a mentor if your employees do not have a clarity of their future growth
- Help your employees create short term actions leading to their long term goals
- Invest in the growth of your employees through required trainings for skill development
- Have regular Alignment Conversations to offer engaging tasks and responsibilities to your employees
- Try to increase challenge levels in the mundane tasks
